About AHK-Cu

AHK-Cu is the copper(II) complex of the tripeptide alanine, histidine and lysine. It’s a close cousin of GHK-Cu, with alanine in place of glycine.

That one change shifts where it’s most studied. GHK-Cu is mostly a skin peptide; AHK-Cu is mostly studied for hair follicles.

What studies report about AHK-Cu

The best known work is a 2007 cell study showing that AHK-Cu helped dermal papilla cells, the cells at the base of a hair follicle, grow and survive in culture. It’s since been used in hair and scalp cosmetic formulas.

Published data is small and almost all in vitro. It isn’t a drug.

How AHK-Cu works

Like GHK-Cu, AHK-Cu holds a copper ion and can deliver it to cells. Copper peptides influence growth factor signaling and the cells that build connective tissue.

In hair follicle culture work, AHK-Cu supported the dermal papilla cells that control the hair growth cycle, and was reported to reduce programmed cell death in them.

Handling AHK-Cu 200mg powder

Measure portions with a clean, dry spatula and keep the rest sealed. A small sachet of desiccant in the storage bag helps.

Dissolve it in purified water or the aqueous phase of your base, after any heating step. Check the pH of the finished test batch, since most of these peptides prefer roughly 5 to 7.

Keep the unopened powder frozen. Once you’re working from it, the fridge and a tight seal are enough for a month or so.

How labs test AHK-Cu 200mg

Cosmetic peptides are usually screened in cultured human dermal fibroblasts or keratinocytes first, where collagen, elastin or melanin output can be measured directly. The next step is reconstructed skin models, and only then small cosmetic panels.

Because formulation levels are small, 200mg covers many test batches. Split it into a few sealed portions on day one and only open one at a time.
